ATCO Frontec is seeking a Baker to join our Camp Services team at Artemis Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia, approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver. The Baker manages and leads all aspects of the Bakery at the camp. It involves meeting guests’ needs related to pastries, baked goods, recipes, plating guides, and sanitation standards. They are responsible for inspecting food and equipment on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
The hourly wage for this role is $28.21 / hour.
The rotation for the role is 28 days on, and 14 days off.
Responsibilities:
Oversees preparation of baked goods according to duties assigned, and number guest in-house, with a focus on quality, appearance, adequate production and stocking levels in all serving areas, and minimizing leftovers and product waste.
Carry out bake-off baking responsibilities to produce a variety of products in sufficient quantities according to specifications
Ensure that all prepared products are correctly recorded on production records.
Required scratch baking creativity and experience.
Manages high volume of baked goods required daily
Order food inventory as required by maintaining food costs
Adhering to allergen signage with food items displayed.
Trains and directs subordinate food service workers, ensuring compliance with company and client safety requirements.
Supervises subordinate staff to ensure the highest sanitary standards are maintained in all food serving and storage areas in accordance with company, client, and governmental requirements.
Prepares all baked goods for the menu and catered events according to standardized recipes and ensuring baked items are cooked at the proper temperature and at the proper length of time.
Maintains established baked goods rotations in storage in order to minimize spoilage and waste
Operates food services equipment in a safe manner and according to established policies and procedures.
Follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food, work area and equipment
Ensure that all prepared products are correctly recorded on daily kitchen logs for hot and cold holding, proper labeling, temperature logs and daily cleaning schedules.
Acts in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner in all customer and employee interactions.
Clean kitchen, utensils and equipment.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must hold a valid food safety certificate
5 or more years’ experience as Baker in the hotel/restaurant industry is a strong asset
Experience in high volume baking
Ability to prioritize and multitask
Professional communication skills, oral, and written
Work well under pressure
