About the role:
The Production Technician is responsible for supporting daily production operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and quality standards are met. This role involves hands-on technical work, troubleshooting and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The Technician also collaborates closely with supervisors and other departments to meet production targets and maintain a smooth workflow.
Support the production and deployment of PhotonAssay™ instruments by preparing Chrysos jars and discs, assembling equipment and sub-assemblies, conducting acceptance testing, and assisting with warehouse activities – all in alignment with work instructions, quality standards, and deployment schedules.
This is a fixed term position.
What you will do:
Production and Assembly
- Assemble PhotonAssay™ detector stations, equipment, and sub-assemblies in accordance with approved work instructions and quality standards.
- Prepare and assemble consumable components including Chrysos sample jars and reference discs to support instrument deployment and operational requirements.
- Ensure all components, materials, and assemblies are correctly identified, labelled, and handled in accordance with safety, quality, and traceability requirements.
- Maintain assembly tools, fixtures, and workstations in a clean and organised condition.
- Perform laboratory preparation activities including preparing CRM jars (filling, weighing, labelling, and batch recording), assembling reference discs in line with procedures, and adhering to particulate control, PPE, and contamination control requirements.
Testing and Quality Control
- Support acceptance testing of PhotonAssay™ detectors, sub-assemblies, and components.
- Record test results and production data accurately in relevant systems or documentation.
- Identify and report defects, non-conformances, or deviations from specifications.
Materials Handling and Warehouse Support
- Pick and pack components, consumables, and assemblies for production and deployment shipments.
- Support warehouse operations during peak workload periods including manual handling and material movement.
- Assist with inventory activities including stock counts and reconciliation with the Supply Chain team.
Workplace Safety and Housekeeping
- Maintain a safe and organised work environment, including cleaning tools, workspaces, and safely disposing of waste.
- Follow all workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Contribution and Collaboration
- Contribute to continuous improvement of production, laboratory, and testing processes.
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Physics Development, Product Development, Instrument Quality, and Supply Chain teams in support of scheduled and unscheduled events.
- Support a strong workplace health and safety culture through safe behaviours and proactive hazard reporting.
- Communicate effectively with local and international Chrysos staff to support production, testing, and deployment activities.
Who you are:
- Electromechanical trade qualification with experience in component assembly, soldering, and fault-finding
- Confident with computer and server configuration, setup, and basic troubleshooting
- Hands-on assembly experience working from technical drawings and quality standards
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and traceability
- Experience with acceptance testing and identifying non-conformances
- Sound understanding of PPE, particulate control, and contamination control in lab or controlled environments
- Warehouse and materials handling experience — pick/pack, stock counts, and inventory reconciliation
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, 5S, and housekeeping standards
