Location: Remote / field-based, with regular travel across London & the South East. Ideally based on-patch or easily commutable into London.
Contract: Full-time, permanent.
Compensation: Competitive base salary plus a quarterly bonus tied directly to territory revenue growth — the better your territory performs, the more you take home.
Right to work: We're unable to offer UK visa sponsorship for this role.
The Role
We're looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to own and grow our London & South East England territory. This is a high-profile hire, London is our smallest patch geographically but the largest pathology outsourcing market in the UK, and we need someone who can walk in and make an immediate impact at Trust and Network level.
You'll take on a genuine hunter-farmer role: growing an existing account base while relentlessly pursuing new business across Pathology Networks, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), NHS England, and NHS Trusts.
What You'll Be Doing
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across London & South East England, converting market opportunity into new accounts and expanded case volumes.
- Engage senior executive stakeholders across Pathology Networks, ICBs, NHS England, and NHS Trusts, building credibility and trust at Director and C-suite level.
- Navigate complex, multi-stage NHS procurement and decision-making processes without losing momentum.
- Lead the development of proposals and presentations to win new business and partnerships.
- Develop and execute your own outbound sales strategy and territory plan.
- Support deal structure, pricing, and negotiation for proactive bids and proposals.
- Grow existing accounts expanding case volumes and service scope within your current customer base.
- Own daily CRM hygiene and pipeline integrity in HubSpot, keeping data accurate and reporting actionable.
- Stay ahead of regional market trends, including the National Cancer Plan and the NHS pathology transformation agenda (the 10 Year Health Plan, pathology network reform, and the Carter Pathology Transformation Review), acting as a go-to regional market advisor internally.
- Represent Diagnexia at regional trade shows, conferences, and events.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of 5 years' field-based Business Development / Sales experience in the UK healthcare services industry.
- Proven experience engaging senior executive stakeholders across Pathology Networks, ICBs, NHS England, and NHS Trusts, ideally selling into an NHS diagnostic setting.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate NHS Trust clinical and vendor decision-making processes.
- A track record of genuinely growing a territory or account base, not just managing what's already there.
- Strong CRM discipline (HubSpot or equivalent) with real attention to detail in pipeline tracking.
- Resilience, self-direction, and a structured, proactive approach — you plan your follow-ups, and when something isn't working, you have a plan B and C ready.
- Comfort operating with a high degree of autonomy, and confidence building relationships beyond your usual comfort zone.
- A full, clean UK driving licence, and willingness to travel extensively (50%+ of your time) across the territory, and occasionally within the UK and EU.
Desirable: experience in digital pathology, diagnostic imaging, oncology, or academic medical centres; software/service sales background (rather than pure capital/hardware sales) is a strong advantage.
