Introduction
\r\n\r\nThe Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) is an\r\nindependent State agency that regulates Maryland’s $49 billion insurance\r\nindustry and protects consumers by monitoring and enforcing insurers’ and\r\ninsurance professionals’ compliance with State law.� Staff members are\r\nsubject matter experts who serve as a resource for lawmakers, consumers, and\r\nother public and private entities.�\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe MIA is charged with a broad range of\r\nresponsibilities including the licensure of insurance carriers and insurance\r\nproducers (brokers/agents) operating in Maryland, the conduct of financial\r\nexaminations of companies to monitor financial solvency, and the review and\r\napproval of rates and contract forms.� The MIA investigates reports of\r\nconsumer fraud and consumer complaints about life, health, automobile,\r\nhomeowners, and/or property insurance.� Insurance carriers are subject to\r\nmarket conduct examinations and other actions to monitor compliance with\r\nMaryland law.� The MIA also has a unit dedicated to consumer education and\r\noutreach, which participates in hundreds of events and reaches thousands of\r\nindividual consumers annually.\r\n\r\n\r\n***This recruitment is limited to current employees of the Maryland Insurance Administration.***\r\n\r\n\r\n

POSITION DUTIES
The MIA’s Life and Health Division’s, Appeals and Grievance\r\nUnit is seeking to fill an Administrative Aide position. The incumbent in this\r\nposition will provide assistance to the Director, Assistant Chief Investigator,\r\nand Insurance Investigator staff within the Appeals and Grievance Unit. This\r\nposition answers telephone calls received from consumers with insurance\r\nquestions and directs them to the appropriate investigator or department within\r\nthe agency. The Administrative Aide sets up\r\ncases using an online complaint tracking system; prepares documents for\r\nhearings and exhibits; produces reports through a cloud-based platform and\r\nmanages communications with internal and external customers using the same.\r\nThis position also creates spreadsheets in Excel to capture and manage data. \r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:\r\nGraduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school\r\nequivalency certificate.\r\nExperience:\r\nFour years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing\r\nduties.\r\nNotes:\r\n1.\r\nAdditional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a\r\nyear-for-year basis for the required education.\r\n2.\r\nThirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology\r\nfrom an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for\r\none year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n3.�Candidates may substitute U.S.\r\nArmed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in\r\nAdministration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services\r\nspecialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year\r\nbasis for the required experience.\r\n\r\n

The ideal candidate will have the following:\r\n�\r\n�\r\nExperience drafting professional letters and emails\r\n�\r\nExperience using Excel to manage data\r\n
