Main Purpose of Job
The Central Services\r\nOperational Specialist position is an internal MDE position. This role serves as the\r\nprimary operational lead for MDE’s physical and digital infrastructure. The\r\nincumbent oversees the agency’s $16 million capital inventory, manages the Departmental\r\nRecords Management and Digitalization Program, and coordinates fleet and\r\nfacility logistics. This position ensures that all agency assets—from\r\nprocurement and warehousing to digital archiving and secure destruction—comply\r\nwith Maryland Department of General Services (DGS), State Archivist, and NIST\r\nsecurity standards. The incumbent also supports the department’s transition to\r\ndigital document workflows and implements inventory controls to maintain\r\noperational continuity for more than 950 employees while ensuring the physical\r\nintegrity and digital accuracy of agency resources.\r\n�\r\nThe working conditions of this\r\nposition may involve:\r\n\r\n Exposure to uncomfortable or unpleasant surroundings.\r\n Work may involve exposure to fumes from sprays and other\r\n materials, as well as areas with high noise levels. The position may\r\n require working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.\r\n Exposure to hazardous conditions, which may result in\r\n injury.�\r\n Work involves exposure to ice and snow, flammable liquids,\r\n electrical circuits, mechanical equipment and hazards.\r\n Work involves special physical demands such as lifting 50\r\n pounds or more, climbing ladders, etc.\r\n Use of protective equipment such as googles, gloves, mask,\r\n etc.\r\n\r\n�\r\nThe incumbent in this position\r\nwill be required to drive a State vehicle.��If you maintain an\r\nout-of-state driving license, you must provide a certified copy of your driving\r\nrecord for the appropriate Motor Vehicle Administration at the time of\r\nappointment. Individuals must maintain a driver's license with no more than 5\r\npoints on their driving record in order to drive a State vehicle.\r\n�\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:�� Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. \r\nExperience:�One year of administrative staff or professional work. \r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute 30�college credit hours from an accredited college or university for�the required experience.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included�regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required�experience. \r\n
