Our client, a growing medical device organisation, is seeking an experienced Director of Sales to join its leadership team.

This is a senior commercial leadership role focused on driving strategic account growth, managing complex technical sales opportunities, and developing long-term customer partnerships within the global medical device sector. The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership teams to ensure customer requirements are translated into commercially and technically successful outcomes.

This role is ideally suited to a commercially driven sales leader with experience managing strategic customer relationships, complex sales cycles, and business growth within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans focused on revenue growth, customer retention, and long-term partnership development.

  • Build strong relationships with customer stakeholders across Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Operations, and Senior Management teams.

  • Identify opportunities to expand existing customer relationships while developing new business opportunities.

  • Act as the primary commercial contact for key customer accounts.

  • Lead complex sales opportunities from initial engagement through qualification, validation, commercial agreement, and ongoing account development.

  • Support long-cycle technical sales opportunities, including early-stage customer engagement and design-in activities.

  • Work closely with customers and internal teams to understand technical requirements and develop commercially viable solutions.

  • Support the preparation of quotations, proposals, commercial agreements, and business cases.

  • Represent the business at customer meetings, industry events, and commercial engagements.

  • Deliver annual sales and revenue targets in line with business objectives.

  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reporting.

  • Monitor market activity, customer trends, and competitive developments.

  • Provide commercial insights to support strategic planning and business growth initiatives.

  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to support customer programmes and business objectives.

  • Coordinate internal resources to ensure customer expectations are met.

  • Support customer onboarding, project reviews, supplier qualification activities, and issue resolution.

  • Foster strong collaboration across departments to drive customer satisfaction and business performance.

  • Develop a strong understanding of customer needs, market trends, and emerging technologies.

  • Identify opportunities for innovation and growth within existing and new customer accounts.

  • Build trusted relationships that position the organisation as a valued long-term partner.

  • Degree or relevant qualification in Engineering, Life Sciences, Business, or a related STEM discipline.

  • Significant experience in sales, business development, or strategic account management within the medical device sector.

  • Proven track record delivering revenue growth and managing complex customer relationships.

  • Experience managing long-cycle technical sales opportunities within regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Strong commercial acumen with experience developing account strategies and managing sales pipelines.

  • Understanding of medical device manufacturing, validation, quality systems, and customer qualification processes.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to build credibility with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
