The Business Development Manager will drive strategic growth by hunting and closing high-value deals (R5 million – R15 million per annum) with C-Suite decision-makers, including CEOs, CFOs, Chief Sales / Commercial / Revenue Officers, and Heads of Strategy. You will own the full sales cycle - from outbound prospecting to contract signing, positioning the company as the premier partner for transformational growth across Africa and the Middle East. Key Responsibilities 1. Prospecting & Pipeline Building Outbound Hunting: Conduct 150+ monthly touchpoints (calls, emails, LinkedIn) using LinkedIn Sales Navigator, HubSpot CRM, and Apollo.io) Target Clients: Focus on SA-based Ideal Customer Profiles including: JSE-listed firms launching new divisions or seeking growth Mid-market companies (50–200 employees) Large companies (200–1,000 employees) Enterprises (1,000+ employees) Family-owned businesses transitioning to professional management Networking: Leverage industry events to generate leads. 2. Consultative Selling Diagnostic Phase: Facilitate executive workshops to uncover client challenges (e.g., EBITDA margin pressures, market expansion issues). Solution Design: Collaborate with Growth Architects to create tailored 12-month playbooks with clear ROI (pricing optimisation, channel expansion, export strategies, etc.). Proposal Presentation: Deliver compelling proposals, including retainers, success fees, or equity stakes. 3. Deal Closing Pitching: Present board-level decks (PowerPoint/Canva) customized for the SA market (BBBEE alignment, regulatory considerations). Negotiation: Navigate procurement, contracts, and legal requirements (MSAs, SLAs) to close 10 new clients per month with average deal sizes of R5 million – R15 million. 4. Market Intelligence Monitor competitors and new entrants. Provide weekly insights on pricing strategies and market trends. Requirements Experience (Non-Negotiable) Bachelor’s degree; MBA is an advantage. Minimum 5 years in B2B sales/business development; 5+ years in management consulting or growth advisory Proven track record: closed R100 million+ in annual deals with complex, multi-year services. Deep understanding of the South African business landscape, including procurement processes and corporate challenges. Skills & Competencies Hunter DNA: Ability to connect with CXOs Consultative Selling: Ability to articulates differentiation and fluency in financial metrics (IRR, EBITDA margins). Tech Savvy: Proficient in HubSpot CRM, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Power BI for client dashboards. Behavioural Fit Resilient: Shortens sales cycles with persistence.
