A growing non-bank funding business that helps SMEs access vital working capital from their unpaid invoices is looking for a SME Funding Sales Consultant for a 3-month independent contract, with a clear intent to transition to permanent for the right candidate. This is a hybrid role with 3 days spent in office and 2 days remote with working hours as 08:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday, with some micro-flexibility. The company prides themselves on keeping small businesses thriving by bridging their cash flow gaps with absolute precision. This is a high-impact, consultative frontline role focused entirely on warm lead conversion, structured follow-up, document collection, and onboarding support. You will engage directly with SME owner-managers who have already actively reached out and shown a strong interest in funding. Because busy business owners frequently get distracted, your core focus will be providing structured, professional follow-ups to guide them through the process, ensuring these strong opportunities are secured and successfully onboarded. This role perfectly suits someone who enjoys repeated, disciplined follow-up and does not get frustrated when busy clients need several reminders before sending documents. Key Operational Responsibilities: Lead Conversion & Nurturing: Drive proactive outbound follow-ups via phone, email, and WhatsApp with warm, pre-qualified SME applicants who have shown an active interest in funding. Pipeline Momentum: Work with energy and urgency to ensure no funding opportunity falls through the cracks, guiding busy business owners step-by-step through their application process. Document Chasing & Assistance: Actively assist applicants with completing their funding applications by following up on outstanding financial documents and information required for onboarding. Database Mining & Re-engagement: Consistently re-engage with older leads on the historical database where previous contact may have gone cold, unlocking hidden value. CRM Hygiene & Tracking: Maintain an immaculate sales pipeline within a CRM environment (Pipedrive), meticulously updating client information, lead stages, and detailed follow-up activities. Sales Team & Operations Support: Collaborate closely with the broader sales team, supporting them with lead tracking, pipeline updates, conversion activities, and affiliate lead programme reporting. Client Query Resolution: Serve as a dedicated, frontline touchpoint for prospects, handling inbound queries with professional warmth and ensuring no client gets left behind. Requirements Language Proficiency: Naturally fluent in Afrikaans and English, with the versatile communication skills needed to explain a financial product simply and confidently to a wide variety of SME owner-managers across diverse industries and locations. Track Record: Demonstrated success and strong experience in frontline sales, sales support, lead conversion, customer success, or relationship management—ideally within recruitment, financial services, fintech, banking, insurance, vehicle finance, broker support, or asset finance. The Right Mindset: A proactive, resilient individual who genuinely loves speaking to business owners and understands how to balance professional warmth with a sense of urgency. Resilient Follow-Through: The ability to consistently and pleasantly follow up with busy clients, maintaining a highly professional, patient, and solution-focused approach at all times. Tech-Agility: Strong working knowledge of CRM systems (Pipedrive exposure is a major plus) and comfort working with pipeline data. Education & Grit: A diploma or degree is useful, but not essential. We care far more about evidence that you can stick with difficult tasks, manage a pipeline properly, and follow through consistently.
