The Sales Development Representative is responsible for generating new business through targeted outbound prospecting within assigned geographic markets. This position develops new customer relationships, sells qualifying accounts directly, and identifies larger or specialized opportunities for transition to Outside Sales. The role is designed to build inside sales, territory, and customer development skills while creating a pipeline for future advancement into Outside Sales.

 

Responsibilities of Position:

  • Conduct targeted outbound prospecting by zip code, city, county, or other assigned geographic areas to generate new business and support route densification
  • Identify, qualify, and close new customer opportunities within established service and volume guidelines
  • Identify opportunities exceeding established volume guidelines or requiring specialized services and coordinate referral to Outside Sales
  • Schedule appointments and provide qualified referrals to Outside Sales for larger or specialized opportunities, including permanent Rolloff, Compactor, and Equipment services
  • Maintain consistent outbound calling and prospecting activity to develop a strong sales pipeline
  • Accurately document customer contacts, opportunities, appointments, referrals, and closed sales in the CRM
  • Coordinate with Outside Sales representatives to ensure timely handoffs and follow-up on referred opportunities
  • Evaluate pricing and service configurations to ensure closed business meets established revenue and margin requirements
  • Build knowledge of assigned markets, customer needs, service offerings, and competitive opportunities
  • Follow established sales processes, pricing guidelines, and CRM requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position will not manage employees

 

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional and confident phone presence
  • Ability to calculate and understand pricing, margins, yardage, and service configurations
  • Strong organization and time-management skills with the ability to manage a high volume of daily prospecting activity
  • Strong persistence, resilience, and ability to handle rejection in a high-volume sales environment
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and commitment to accurate and timely documentation
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable working independently
  • Ability to identify customer needs and effectively communicate the value of company services

 

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

  • 1-2 years of prior outbound calling, cold calling, inside sales, or business development experience preferred

 

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:

  • Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10 lbs
  • Continuously working inside
  • Continuously sitting; rarely standing/walking

 

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

  • Ability to travel between offices, as required
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language
