Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive, organized, and relationship-driven Business Development Representative
(BDR) to support growth within a specialized wedding and event insurance product. This role focuses on
building trusted partnerships with wedding venues and planners, positioning the insurance offering as a
simple, free, and valuable solution they can confidently recommend to couples.
This is a consultative, phone-based sales role—not high-volume cold calling. You will work primarily with
warm leads from an existing backlog of venues connected to couples already requesting quotes or
purchasing policies. Success in this role comes from strong conversations, relationship quality, and
disciplined follow-up, rather than aggressive sales tactics or rigid KPIs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead & Pipeline Management
● Proactively manage and nurture a pipeline of warm leads, including wedding venues, planners,
and event professionals
● Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all interactions, notes, and follow-ups within the CRM
● Prioritize leads effectively based on engagement level and opportunity potential
Outreach & Relationship Building
● Conduct outbound outreach primarily via phone calls and email campaigns
● Average daily activity of approximately 30 calls per day (rarely exceeding 40)
● Hold consultative, relationship-focused conversations rather than scripted sales calls
● Establish long-term partnerships with venues as “preferred partners” recommending the
insurance product
Product Education & Onboarding
● Clearly and simply explain the wedding and event insurance offering, avoiding unnecessary
jargon
● Answer questions and address concerns from venues and planners with confidence and clarity
● Support onboarding of new partners to ensure they understand how to offer and promote the
insurance to couples
Client Support & Collaboration
● Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned venues and planners
● Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting during onboarding and promotion
● Collaborate with internal teams to share feedback and suggest improvements to the program
Brand Representation
● Represent the company at wedding and event industry conferences or events (as required)
● Maintain a friendly, professional, and approachable presence aligned with the wedding industry
Hard Skills (Required & Preferred)
● 2–3+ years of experience in sales, business development, or account management,
preferably phone-based
● Strong outbound calling experience with the ability to lead 30-minute consultative
conversations
● Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Ontraport, Salesforce, HubSpot or similar)
● Experience with email outreach tools and campaign management
● Strong pipeline management, follow-up discipline, and activity tracking
● Comfortable working across fluctuating lead volumes while maintaining quality engagement
● Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing, or related field or equivalent experience
Nice to Have:
● Experience in the wedding, events, hospitality, or insurance industries
● Prior exposure to partnership or referral-based sales models
Soft Skills & Personal Attributes
● Conversational and friendly communication style that feels natural and relationship-focused
● Ability to explain nuanced products simply and clearly to non-technical audiences
● Strong organizational and data management skills
● Excellent phone etiquette and professional written communication
● Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently
● Consultative mindset focused on long-term relationships rather than transactional sales
● Adaptable and collaborative team player
Tools & Systems
● CRM: Ontraport, Salesforce, HubSpot
● Communication: Google Workspace (Email), Slack
● Additional browser-based extensions and tools may be used as part of daily workflows
What Makes This Role Exciting
● Work with warm leads—no heavy cold calling required
● Build meaningful partnerships within the wedding and events industry
● Play a key role in expanding a specialized insurance offering with strong market demand
● Emphasis on relationship quality and trust, not aggressive sales pressure
● Opportunity to grow with a scaling business while gaining deep consultative sales experience
