Who We Are
Established in 1987, the Washington Area Community Investment Fund's (WACIF) mission is to increase economic opportunity in communities in the Washington, DC area by investing knowledge, social, and financial capital in low- and moderate-income entrepreneurs. Our mission is driven by three strategic pillars: entrepreneurship, community wealth building, and economic development, and is fulfilled by providing access to capital products and services, and capacity building technical assistance to low- and moderate-income entrepreneurs. WACIF has been continuously certified as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) since 1996, making the organization one of the nation's first CDFIs.
Position Summary
This role will lead operations of the HIVE at a pivotal moment, as the Anacostia Arts Center (AAC) reopens following renovation. The Director will play a critical role in growing the membership, shaping the member experience, and positioning the HIVE for its next phase of growth, and will lead the integration of the HIVE into WACIF's mission.
This role blends operations, business development, community-building, and strategy. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable creating a welcoming, high-quality member experience as well as driving revenue, partnerships, and overall performance of the space.
The Director serves as the primary steward of the coworking space, working cross-functionally with Programs, Lending, Marketing, Development, and Finance teams to ensure members are deeply engaged in WACIF's broader offerings.
This role requires curiosity and an entrepreneurial mindset with a commitment to continuously test, refine, and evolve strategies that strengthen recruitment, engagement, and retention. The Director will manage with a high level of ownership and help shape the future growth and positioning of the HIVE as a key entrepreneurial and community platform within the Anacostia Arts Center.

Qualifications
- →Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, real estate management, or other relevant fields.
- →Minimum of 7 years' professional experience in one or more of the following areas: coworking space operations, business administration, public administration, non-profit administration, and/or small business management, development, and/or assistance.
- →Familiarity with Stripe and Optix or similar payment processing and coworking space management software preferred.
- →Experience in Microsoft Office Suite;
- →Experience in organizing events;
- →Must be a team player, able to work within a team structure, and collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders to develop effective partnerships;
- →Demonstrated skills at building and cultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders, including staff and small business owners;
- →Entrepreneurship and/or small business experience preferred;
- →Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills;
- →Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and abilities;
- →Comfortable operating and troubleshooting Audio/Video Tech + Internet
- →Should be organized, detail-oriented, and a multitasker;
- →Occasional evening and weekend hours are required.
Location: Washington D.C. - Hybrid
Salary Range
$90,000 - $108,000
