The View, New York City’s only revolving restaurant, bar, and lounge has been led by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group since 2025, following a complete renovation by the Rockwell Group. The space evokes the vibrant nightlife of historic New York, drawing inspiration from classic American supper clubs.  

Located in the heart of the theater district, The View spans two floors, offering both a lively bar and a full-service dining room in constant motion. The experience blends live music, classic American cuisine, and panoramic skyline views with the theatrical energy of the surrounding neighborhood.

 

The Lead Prep Cook works closely with back-of-house leadership at The View to ensure that the kitchen is set up for a successful day of service. This role leads the morning prep team, helps organize daily production, and ensures that all food is prepared to recipe and quality standards. You are accountable to keep the kitchen organized, prepared and set up for a smooth and successful service.

Responsibilities

  • →Consistently support a culture of Enlightened Hospitality
  • →Lead the morning prep team, assigning daily tasks and ensuring prep is completed accurately and on time
  • →Review prep lists and production needs and prioritize tasks accordingly
  • →Prepare food according to recipes, specifications, and established quality standards
  • →Ensure proper labeling, dating, storage, and rotation of all prepared food and ingredients
  • →Follow all food safety DOH standards, ensuring proper temperature control, sanitation, and safe food handling
  • →Support the kitchen team as needed and help ensure a smooth transition from prep to service
  • →Train and support prep cooks in proper techniques, recipes, and kitchen procedures

Requirements

  • 2+ years in a Line Cook position at a full-service restaurant or similar experience
  • Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • High volume experience
  • Culinary education preferred, but not required
  • English fluency and additional languages preferred, but not required
