As a U.S. Army Business Development Lead for Air Defense and Counter-UAS, you will play a pivotal role in identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities through effective market analysis, strategic planning, customer engagement, requirements shaping, and formal industry response to Army solicitations. You will collaborate with mission engineering and product engineering teams to identify and analyze markets, inform them of customer and user requirements, and formulate winning strategies and business narratives that bring in new opportunities and revenue in air defense and C-UAS (which includes both sensing and effecting). 

This is a foundational hire. You will shape how CHAOS thinks about and implements Army business development strategy, and you will have the freedom to move fast.

Salary Range: $160,000 - $220,000

The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base compensation range and excludes additional earnings such as bonus, equity, and benefits. The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. 

 


Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential business opportunities and trends. Includes continuous opportunity monitoring using open-source (e.g., Sam.gov) and/or subscription services. 
  • Perform regular research to understand emerging programs and opportunities and to learn about industry-specific subject matter. 
  • Conduct competitive analysis to gain insights into market dynamics and competitor landscape, which contributes to opportunity qualification, teaming determination, and narrative development. 
  • Engage the acquisitions leaders, requirement generators, and end users/operators of air defense and C-UAS programs in order to understand their needs, inform them of CHAOS capabilities, and translate their needs to mission and product engineering. 
  • Qualify business opportunities and evaluate attractiveness and probability of win. 
  • Partner with the capture team to develop comprehensive capture plans at the strategic (pipeline-wide) and tactical (opportunity-specific) levels that align with business priorities and growth targets. 
  • Develop strategic messaging (“win themes”) for both customer engagements and proposals. 
  • Plan and lead customer meetings, industry days, conferences. 

Product Roadmap Prioritization 

  • Translate customer priorities into capability needs that inform engineering priorities. 
  • Participate in engineering planning sessions to ensure product development efforts are aligned to customer needs. 

Customer Engagement 

  • Serve as the U.S. Army lead on planning and executing engagements that support capturing Air Defense and C-UAS business. 

Proposal and Content Development 

  • Serve as the U.S. Army lead on proposals, market research, white papers, and other response content that supports capturing Air Defense and C-UAS business. 
  • Translate U.S. Army priorities into clear, concise, and compelling response narratives that directly address customer needs. 

Physical Location: 

  • There are two options for work location for this role: Work full-time onsite out of our Washington D.C. office; or Work full time off-site (remote, work from home) in Huntsville, AL. 
  • Light (<20%) travel required for trips to Los Angeles HQ and/or customer strategic meetings/events.
