The New Hampshire Veterans Home is seeking a Food Service Worker / Dietary Aide to join our dietary team. In this role, you'll help prepare and serve nutritionally balanced meals to resident veterans according to established menu plans and food safety standards, while providing attentive, resident-focused service.

  • 1st Shift: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 10:30 AM – 7:15 PM

Responsibilities

  • Assist in prepping and serving food according to menu plans and the number of residents served.
  • Participate in the preparation and setup of individual trays for food distribution.
  • Set up for meal service, take food orders, and serve residents.
  • Set tables and prepare beverages while striving to meet residents' needs.
  • Operate dishwashing machines, food disposal equipment, coffee machines, toasters, and heat-on-demand units.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, refrigerators, and food preparation areas.
  • Clean dining rooms, kitchens, and dishwashing areas, including floors, tables, and chairs.
  • Stock all work areas and unit kitchenettes.
  • Assist with passing and collecting meal trays.
  • Assist with cooking or preparing foods as directed by the cook, chef, or dietary management team.
  • Assist with receiving, documenting, and preparing trays for regular and special diets as needed.
  • Train new employees on assigned duties and procedures.
  • Assist with special events and other duties supporting residents' needs.
  • Perform additional cleaning assignments as directed by shift leaders or the dietary management team.
  • Perform other custodial or housekeeping duties as assigned by a supervisor.
  • Completion of eighth-grade education or equivalent.
  • Each additional year of approved formal education may substitute for one year of required work experience.
  • Six months of experience as a waiter, waitress, dining room attendant, or food service worker preferred.
  • None required.
