Role: Account Manager
Priority Location: South Africa and Latin America.
Working Hours: 9.30AM - 6.30 PM (CST) Mon - Fri
Salary Range: $1,500 - $2,000 USD per month (The final offer is at the client’s discretion and depends on the candidate’s interview result, skills, and experience.)
Type of contract: Independent Contractor
Type of job: Remote
About the Company:
My client is a US-based B2B promotional products supplier serving thousands of distributors across North America. They sell exclusively to the distributor channel — they don't compete with their customers, they help them win. They're known in the industry for reliability (98% on-time ship rate), proprietary product lines like Magic'TapTM NFC and UPHILLTM custom apparel, and a distributor-first model built around the success of our partners.
About The Role:
The Account Manager owns the growth of a portfolio of US distributor accounts — driving new business, expanding existing accounts, and closing deals. You are paired with an Account Coordinator who handles quoting, order processing, proofs, and day-to-day transactional work. That means your time goes into selling, sourcing, negotiating, and growing — not paperwork. This is a quota role with real upside. Not customer service.
What You’ll Do:
- Own a book of existing accounts; drive repeat business, upsell, and cross-sell
- Retention — constant and periodic communication with your key accounts
- Schedule and run customer meetings — call constantly, stay in touch, stay top-of-mind
- Identify opportunities across our 2,000+ product catalog and proprietary lines
- Work with sourcing and design teams on custom product requests
- Handle objections, revisions, and pricing negotiations
- Re-engage stalled opportunities and dormant accounts
- Own the customer relationship end-to-end — you're the point of contact for escalations and account issues, not a hands-off manager
- Partner closely with your Account Coordinator — they execute, you grow
What “Good” Looks Like:
- You hit your weekly activity targets consistently, not in bursts
- Your existing accounts are growing — not just maintained
- Your pipeline is current; every opportunity has a next action with a date
- You close, or you get a clear no — deals don't sit stuck
- Your forecast is accurate; no month-end surprises
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Excellent spoken and written English (neutral accent strongly preferred)
- Confident on the phone — this role is call-heavy
- 3+ years in B2B sales, business development, or account management with proven closing track record
- Ability to share concrete performance numbers (calls/day, quotes/week, closes/month, win rate, average order value)
- Comfortable with quotas, KPIs, and CRM discipline
- Tech-savvy: CRM systems, Microsoft tools, AI tools to work faster
- Organized, accountable, and able to operate with minimal supervision
Strong Advantages:
- B2B selling to US distributors or wholesalers
- Experience working with quotes, margins, lead times, and production timelines
Not a Fit If:
- You wait for accounts to come to you instead of proactively staying in touch and growing them
- You rely only on email/messages and avoid the phone
- You cannot share concrete performance numbers
- Your background is only retail or customer service with no quota-closing proof
Compensation & Growth:
- Competitive base + commission on invoiced sales
- Uncapped earning potential
- Clear growth path into senior sales and team lead roles as we scale
- Account Coordinator paired with you so you focus on selling, not paperwork
- We invest in tools and AI to make you faster, not to replace you
- A direct, fast-moving team that respects your time
We treat Account Managers as the growth engine of the business. You get a Coordinator to handle execution, real tools to do the work, and the freedom to sell. We invest in the people who invest in us.
