This role requires direct, hands-on experience with Clio Manage — specifically billing, invoicing, trust accounting, and timekeeping. If you have not used Clio Manage in a professional legal setting, this position will not be a fit.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Legal Billing Specialist to support a growing law firm (approx. 15 attorneys) with billing operations managed exclusively through Clio Manage. This is a remote, part-time W-2 position. You will be the primary point of contact for billing accuracy, invoice follow-up, and client communication related to financial matters.
Manage the complete billing cycle within Clio Manage, including time entries, invoice generation, payment processing, and account maintenance
Review attorney and staff time entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with billing requirements
Monitor billable hours across multiple matters and attorneys
Coordinate with attorneys regarding billing questions, adjustments, and invoice approvals
Communicate professionally with clients regarding invoices, payments, account balances, and billing inquiries
Follow up on overdue invoices and outstanding balances in a timely and professional manner
Maintain accurate records of billing activity, payment history, and client communications
Assist with trust account and retainer tracking as needed
Support general administrative functions, including document management and scheduling
Ensure confidentiality and professionalism in all client interactions

Requirements

Prior experience in a law firm or legal services environment
Bachelor's degree required
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a remote work environment
Professional, reliable, and proactive approach to work
Dedicated home office setup with stable, high-speed internet
Experience supporting multiple attorneys in a mid-sized or high-volume law firm
Knowledge of legal billing practices, trust accounting, retainers, and IOLTA requirements
Experience handling collections, accounts receivable follow-up, or client billing inquiries
Strong client service or customer-facing experience
