Indiana University Health is seeking an administrative assistant – surgery scheduler to join our Orthopedic Trauma team. The administrative assistant is an integral part of the orthopedic team working alongside surgeons and advanced practice providers to ensure high quality of care to patients presenting with a variety of illnesses and injuries affecting the musculoskeletal system. As an administrative assistant, you will have the opportunity to join a team of highly skilled medical experts with a mission to deliver preeminent medical care and service to our patients.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating the ability to multitask and support multiple providers
  • Initiates, monitors, and ensures timely completion of surgical and non-surgical insurance authorizations
  • Supports patient flow from point of entry to destination and ensures timely, accurate, and professional services
  • Assists with coordinating and maintaining outlook calendars
  • Communicate with patients to obtain and update relevant demographic records within the electronic medical record
  • Assist with coordinating and scheduling surgical and post-operative appointments
  • Effectively communicates with physicians, APPs, and care team about surgery scheduling needs

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Requires 0-3+ years relevant experience; previous administrative experience preferred.
  • Experience with matrix organization and complex work environment a plus.
  • Requires basic proficiency in MS office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
