Job Description
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Administrative Assistant II, UNLV Human Resources
Will act as the front office administrator and initial point of contact for the central human resources department. Welcome/greet guests and visitors, triage walk-in’s, appointments, and calls professionally and accurately. Assist special investigators with employment verifications. Maintain front office resources and tracking spreadsheets. Processing incoming and outgoing mail. Maintain a safe and clean work area, keeping storage and break room clean and organized. Make sure office supplies are stocked and organized. Supervise student workers. Order, receive, and put away office supplies. Other front desk duties/tasks will be assigned based on the changing needs of the department.
HR Departmental Support: Enroll new hires into PEBP portal and send new hire benefits emails. Manage education verification tasks for classified and student employees using the National Student Clearinghouse. Pull and send reports as needed, submit requisitions/purchase orders, etc. Provide general HR team support including submitting maintenance requests, building access requests, telecom/OIT tickets, office printer troubleshooting and other technical issues. Booking conference rooms and/or event support (printing, setup, etc.) Assigning new hires in Archibus, managing the department group email.
Send out general office communications, office inventory tracking and organizing, and other general office assistance tasks. Tasks and projects can be added, removed or replaced depending on the changing needs of the department.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background and/or credit check.
Requirements
~1 min readGraduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Strong multitasking capabilities, detailed oriented, comfortable with a fast-paced working environment, strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organization and time management skills, ability to provide high level of professionalism and customer service. Proficient in GSuite and Microsoft office applications, ability to remain calm under pressure and provide supervision to student workers.
Grade 25 Step 1, salary 42,636.96.
In accordance with Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 284.170, initial appointments to classified positions typically begin at Step 1 of the assigned grade. A "Step" refers to the specific rate of pay within a grade, as determined by the Division of Human Resources.
